God, there are two ways to listen to Thee. One is passive, like those who enjoy an opera - with emotion but no action. The other way is active - when we are alert to receive our orders from Thee and to obey. Then we offer not only our heart and mind but also our strength to Thee. Both ways are right when we use them at the right time. Frequently when we are passively listening, Thou dost send a message about something we must do. Then we must do at once what Thou commandest. I resolve to listen much more and to rush around in nervous futility much less.
